Hibernian U19 coach Alistair Stevenson has urged the players to look forward despite the fact manager John Hughes was recently sacked.

Hughes was given the boot by Hibs management following the last start 2-0 loss to St Johnstone and Stevenson, who has been given the caretaker role alongside first team coach Gareth Evans, wants things to move forward as normal.

“We discussed things last week and spoke about what is in the past is very much in the past," Stevenson said.

"The only way we can progress as a club is to look forwards. We haven't looked back and discussed anything that has happened in the past.

"The players have been really focused and really upbeat. We have been impressed with the way they have worked.

“I don't think there is necessarily anything been majorly wrong," he continued.

"We need a wee bit of luck and we have been focusing on different bits and pieces in the team.

"If we can put the ball in the net at one end and defend positively at the other end then we have a very realistic chance of winning the game on Saturday."
