Hernandez tipped to make-or-break Melbourne Victory grand final
Melbourne Victory teammates are expecting Carlos Hernandez to light up today's A-League final against Sydney FC.
The match is expected to attract 50,000-plus fans with tribalfootball.com Player of the Year Hernandez tipped to be the biggest influence on the pitch.
"He's really got all the talent in the world," Victory teammate Tom Pondeljak told the Herald-Sun.
"He probably pulls it out every so often and we've seen that with his goals. Some of his goals are world-class. But Carlos is Carlos and he's happy in Australia and he's comfortable here.
''He's got a good life in Australia and it's a bonus for us.
"I think the bloke could quite easily play overseas without a doubt, but he's chosen to stay here and that's to our benefit.
"As long as he's happy he's probably got a lot more to show. I think Carlos is above our level and when he wants to turn it on you can see the difference in class."
There might be good reasons behind the emergence of Hernandez this season.
"I have become more responsible. I come to training and do my best every day. Part of the reason for that is I have a family and have to get up and go out to training and do my best because I'm responsible for them," he said.
"I have developed a lot as a footballer and as a person."
