New York Red Bulls are set to take on San Jose Earthquakes in the Eastern Conference semi-finals without star striker Thierry Henry.

The French star is in doubt for the Buck Shaw Stadium clash on Saturday because of a knee injury according to Red Bulls head coach Hans Backe.

"He probably has too much pain to be involved in this Saturday’s game. It looks like he’s probably out,'' Backe said.

"We’ll have to take it day-by-day, but it is that kind of injury. It looks like he had a lot of pain during possession. It doesn’t look good.

"I think it's still a possibility for next Thursday (second leg), because it was so much less now than it was before.

“But of course I'd hoped that the pain was not that bad as it was today. So we'll take it day-by-day.''
