Former Real Madrid defender Ivan Helguera has slammed the club's two latest acquisitions.

The Valencia stopper says there was no need for Real to buy Mesut Ozil from Werder Bremen nor former Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho.

He explained: "Ozil had a good World Cup, we all know he did, but I do not know if he will fit in at Madrid. You cannot sign every year a playmaker (Kaka, Canales, Van der Vaart, Ozil ...). There's too many.

"Like Ricardo Carvalho, they do not need a player like him at Madrid right now."

On Jose Mourinho, Helguera believes the new coach won't accept any demands from the board about buying Galacticos.

"He wants to make a championship winning team and to win now. He wants players who can win, not sell shirts," added the defender.
