Hannover 96 midfielder/forward Sal Zizzo looks set to be sidelined for six to nine months after suffering a serious knee injury on Monday.
The 22-year old Californian will undergo surgery after sustaining the injury at training and will be out of action for the best of a year according to Hannover press officer Oliver Rickhof.
"It happened yesterday in the afternoon," Rickhof told Soccer365 on Tuesday morning.
"There are two problems with the knee. Because of that, it will take maybe six to nine months for him to return. This is about the worst injury for a sportsman."
Zizzo joined Hannover in 2007 from Orange County Blue Star and recently enjoyed a loan stint with Fortuna Dusseldorf.
