Giggs: Charlton remains role-model for every Man Utd player

Manchester United ace Ryan Giggs says Sir Bobby Charlton remains the example for every player that comes through the system at Old Trafford.

The Welsh veteran was named BBC's Sports Personality of the Year on Sunday night.

"Bobby is the role model for all players who come through at United because not only did he do everything, it was the manner in which he did it," said Giggs.

"I was fortunate enough to break his appearances record and I have known him since I was 13 or 14, you watch people and I've seen the way he conducts himself.

"When he travels away with us he gets more autograph hunters than some of the players so you know you are in the presence of a proper legend.

"People either love or hate United but opposition fans seem not to dislike me too much - you do get people coming up and saying they admire you as a player and that's always nice."
