Genclerbirligi’s Troisi in transfer dispute

Genclerbirligi midfielder James Troisi is in a transfer tug-of-war with rival Turkish club Kayserispor.

The 21-year old Australian has allegedly signed a deal with Kayserispor and has been featured on the club’s website but Genclerbirligi have denied the player has left.

“The piece of paper Troisi signed is just a piece of paper and it has no validity or legal standing,” Genclerbirligi chairman Ilhan Cavcav told Turkish radio.

“Troisi drives the car we have given him. He is living in the house we have provided him. He is a Genclerbirligi footballer. He is Ankara. He is not going anywhere.

“We have spoken with the Turkish Federation and they said we are in the legally. We will go to FIFA if we have to prove this. In my life, I’ve never been involved in an unethical transfer.”

Kayserispor spokesman Oğuz Ortaköylüoğlu said that Troisi wanted to terminate his contract with Genclerbirlig and his club had helped him do so.

“Troisi had a contract with Genclerbirligi. With his lawyer, looked at ways to terminate his contract. We began negotiations with him after his contract was terminated,” he said.
