Gardner: Birmingham move no step down from Villa

Craig Gardner insists he never thought twice about swapping Aston Villa for Birmingham City in January.

Blues are only two points behind Villa in the table, and Gardner insisted that he didn’t see the £3 million transfer as a step backwards.

Gardner told the Birmingham Mail: “Not at all. If I was not playing football at Villa, I needed to go and play somewhere else and I knew when I came here I had to be patient to get my chance.

“I have been patient and I’ve got my chance and hopefully showed a bit in my favour. All being well I can stay in the team.”

gardner blues is a step down as they are not fighting for champions league and are not even fighting for europa league so it is a step down and hopefully you will be playing championship football with the blues aswell soon
