Fulham hero Dempsey on wonder goal: I just thought what the heck?

Fulham Europa League hero Clint Dempsey admits his stunning goal against Juventus was a roll of the dice.

The USA international's wonder chip was Fulham's fourth on the night and handed the hosts the tie 5-4 on aggregate on a magical night for the Londoners.

"I just thought 'what the heck?' and tried to put it in the far post and it went in," Dempsey told ESPN.

"Nine times out of 10 you won't make it but sometimes you've got to take a risk."

An ecstatic Dempsey was quick to express happiness after his side's battling display earned them a place in the draw for the quarter finals.

He added: "It's great, we showed a lot of heart and character to fight back but we are in the next round."
