Fulham boss Hodgson: Critics will always target Zamora
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson admits he's delighted he managed to keep hold of Bobby Zamora.
Zamora almost joined Hull City over the summer and this season has been leading the line impressively.
Hodgson told TalkSport: “He has played very well this season I must say and in particular the last four to five games he’s really done the job that we want him to do.
"Last season he played a fantastic part in our good season – he and AJ (Andy Johnson) together did ever so well without actually sometimes scoring the goals or crowning a performance but luckily for us this year he’s carried on in great vein in terms of his work rate, in terms of his target play, holding the ball up for us, he’s a very intelligent player, sees passes and he’s very good at putting other people in for goal chances.
"He’s continued doing that but he’s also helped himself to three goals which is pretty good for us – three out of 14 is a decent reward so it’s good if he can carry on in that way because all goalscorers need goals because that is what their reputation is built on. Even if they do do a good job like Bob’s been doing without scoring the goals I’m afraid there’s always going to be criticism.”
