Four Iranian players banned for life

Four Iranian national team footballers have been banned for life.

The quartet wore green armbands during last Thursday’s match against South Korea in protest against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s re-election.

Recent reports have suggested that Ali Karimi, Mehdi Mahdavikia, Hosein Ka’abi and Vahid Hashemian were being ‘retired’ from the national team because of their gestures.
