Former Adelaide United striker Robert Younis is keen to prove to himself and others that he can still make it at the highest level.

Former Adelaide United striker Robert Younis is keen to prove to himself and others that he can still make it at the highest level.

The 23-year old ended his contract with the Reds last season in a bid to go back to the New South Wales Premier League and find form and confidence after not finding his feet in the A-League.

Now, Younis gets the chance to take steps towards returning to Australia’s top flight when his club, Sydney Tigers, take on Sydney FC in a pre-season friendly tonight.

"I want to prove to people that I'm good enough to play A-League again, and I'd love to get that chance with Sydney FC," he said.

"I left Adelaide because I got sick of sitting on the bench. I figured it was better to come back home [Sydney], and start over again.

"Hopefully it works out. It's going to be a big night against Sydney FC, not just for me, but for the whole club. Everyone's excited about it."
