Florentino again hints Real Madrid bid for Barcelona's Messi

Real Madrid president-elect Florentino Perez has again refused to rule out trying to prise Lionel Messi away from Barcelona.

"The whole world would like to have him in their team," said Perez. "He's one of the big names in football.

"In Spain the buyout clause is in the contract to satisfy everyone. It's there to do a job.

"At this point I have not spoken to any player from Barca or any other team. But we could reach an agreement with Barca or pay the clause. A player can move to Barca or Real Madrid. But we have not spoken to any player of Barcelona."

Asked about Treble winners Barca, Perez added: "They have had a great season - and it just makes me more motivated to do well."
