Ferdinand is struggling with a long-term back complaint, though manager Sir Alex Ferguson delivered an upbeat report yesterday.
Speaking at a charity evening for his Live the Dream Foundation, Ferdinand said: "I'm getting there. Hopefully I will be back soon."
