Former Napoli sports director Pierpaolo Marino has joined fans in admitting he is baffled by AC Milan's transfer policy.

Marino fears new coach Max Allegri could be caught out unless Milan president Silvio Berlusconi opens his chequebook in the remaining weeks of the summer market.

The ex-Napoli star told TMW: "Figuring out what AC Milan are really doing in this transfer market is like trying to translate the most intricate of Egyptian hieroglyphs.

"Allegri, of course, thanks to his organized football that focuses on the collective, will mask many problems, but the hope is that he is not, then, sacrificed if things turn sour.

"I remain convinced that Milan will 'manage' with diplomatic skill, until next January, the relationship with Ronaldinho.

"Hopefully Berlusconi, by the end of August, will make further sacrifices for the Rossoneri to make those purchases necessary to ensure the freshness and quality that they are currently lacking."
