Ex-Liverpool star Fowler still good enough – Perth’s McGarry

Perth Glory’s Steven McGarry has confirmed he is a big backer of former Liverpool star Robbie Fowler.

The former St Mirren and Motherwell midfielder is of firm belief that his famous teammate still has what it takes to succeed in a high standard of football even if his pace is swiftly diminishing.

"Robbie might not have the legs he used to, but he's still some player and his finishing is unbelievable,” McGarry told the Scottish Sun.

"He's playing just behind the front for us and his vision and passing ability are frightening at times.

"I'd say the only thing is he can't run as fast as he maybe did before, but he more than makes up for that.

"It's just great to be playing alongside him. He's a proper football legend from his time at Liverpool.

"He's a great guy as well and someone everyone looks up to at the club.”
