Ex-Liverpool star Fowler considering Adelaide United offer

Former Liverpool and current North Queensland Fury star Robbie Fowler is believed to be considering a short-term deal with Adelaide United.

Val Migliaccio from Adelaide Now reports that the 34-year old is pondering a proposed six-game deal with the Reds for the upcoming Asian Champions League group stage.

The move hinges on a Football Federation Australia ruling which states players cannot be loaned to fellow A-League clubs, despite the fact the Asian competition has no bearing on either North Queensland or Adelaide’s domestic season.

Adelaide United football director Michael Petrillo said that he would love to have Fowler at the club but admitted it may be a tough ask to complete any type of deal.

“If he was available, we’d certainly be keen to pursue Robbie Fowler,” Petrillo said.

“He’s a great player, a legend. But at this stage, the A-League rules won’t allow us to loan him. He’d have to terminate his contract and he has another year to run with the Fury.”

Adelaide take on South Korean club and reigning Asian champions, Pohang Steelers, in their first group stage match on February 24 at Hindmarsh Stadium.

yes yes yes... plus seeing Fowler in a red shirt is much better than that ugly green Fury one (sorry guys but thats worst shirt ever)

Buy Fowler then if u cant loan him... Seriously osuwu and cristiano couldnt score in a brothel.... Fowler has scored more goals in his first season than cristiano has in his last 3 seasons... Come on, Adelaide united has dud strikers and a pissant all out defence coach... No wonder why Adelaide sits bottom! I would love to see Fowler signed up at Adelaide or even Perths Eugene Dadi... Now theres a striker who can find the net consistently and is very entertaining... Think about it Adelaide!
Its so logical that even blind freddy can see it!
