Ex-Juventus keeper Vanstratten set for Gold Coast debut
Vanstratten has struggled with injury since returning to Australia and will play underdone due to Scott Higgins' mishap in training this week.
"It's come earlier than I expected but I'm certainly up for it and just happy to get some game time at last," said Vanstrattan, who had two separate stints at Juve.
"I'm not expecting to be at my very best because I'm not match fit.
"I feel for `Giggles' (Higgins) but Miron has called on me and I want to help the team continue winning games.
"I've missed the first six rounds, I'm behind the rest of the players in terms of my match readiness and it will take me a month or so to catch up.
"I've had a rough start to my time with United in terms of the injuries (but) I'm hoping that's all behind me now.
"I've had a good solid week of training behind me and it will be good to have my family there supporting me in the place where I grew up."
Gold Coast coach Miron Bleiberg told the Gold Coast Bulletin: "We didn't intend for Jess to play on Saturday but circumstances have dictated this situation and from what I have seen in training this week, and from what I have heard from our goalkeeper coach, he is ready.
"He might be a little short of match practice but there is no doubting his quality and we are all confident that he will show that quality."
