Ex-Hearts boss Frail happy with role at Celtic academy

Former Hearts chief Stephen Frail is happy working in the youth system at Celtic.

Frail battled to steady a rocking ship as Hearts manager, but his fight ended in vain as he was replaced at the conclusion of the 2007/2008 season.

Now with Celtic, he told The Herald: “We have got scouts all over and nowadays I think you have to.

“At a club the size of Celtic, you have to make sure that you scout out the best talent locally, nationally and internationally.

"We have a couple of kids from Liverpool and Manchester, we have a few Czechs, one Swede and a Bosnian so we are looking far and wide for players. If they are good enough and we believe they can come in here, make an impact and play in our team and ultimately go on and play in the first team, then we need to make sure that we bring them in.

“The manager obviously has his plan for the future of the first team. We, at under-19 level, just continue to work with the players so that if they do step up, they are good enough to play in the development squad. One or two have impressed and it is important that we continue to do our job in trying to facilitate that and helping the manager in moving the club on and winning honours for Celtic.”
