Everton's Fellaini out for six months

Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

The 22-year-old was injured during a controversial incident involving Sotirios Kyrgiakos during Everton's 1-0 defeat by Liverpool on 6 February.

However, the severity of the injury was only ascertained this week after the player consulted with a specialist, reports BBC Sport.

"He has a very serious injury and needs an operation so he will be out for six months," said Everton boss David Moyes.

"It looks like it is the same as (Arsenal striker) Robin van Persie's (injury)," added the Scot, speaking before the Toffees' Europa League clash with Sporting Lisbon.
