Everton, Fulham came close signing Tottenham winger Bentley

Everton turned down the chance of signing Tottenham winger David Bentley yesterday.

The Daily Mail says Everton resisted all proposals for Steven Pienaar - despite a sweetener of Bentley on loan from Tottenham.

Fulham were another club who were interested in Bentley, but ran out of time.
