Sunderland, also known as the Black Cats, are a professional football club based in the north East of England who were formed in 1879. Since forming, Sunderland has won six First Division titles, five Second Division titles, one Third Division title, two FA Cups and one Charity Shield.

Sunderland's home ground is the Stadium of Light and their fiercest rivals are Newcastle United, who they contest the Tyne-Wear derby with. The Black Cats are currently managed by Gus Poyet.
