England chiefs urge Capello to lighten up

England chiefs want Fabio Capello to relax his strict squad rules.

The Mirror says FA chiefs know there is still deep resentment among England players about Capello's autocratic style of management at last summer's World Cup.

And they were deeply worried by the withdrawal of several senior stars including Frank Lampard and John Terry on the eve of Capello's squad announcement for the Euro ties.

The pull-outs set alarm bells ringing at the FA who are desperate for players to rally around the under-fire England boss as he fights to save his job.

And they are concerned that there is so little goodwill towards the Italian that the mass withdrawals from this squad may be a sign of things to come.
