England boss Capello invites drama with index ratings release

England boss Fabio Capello is facing fresh controversy over his online player index.

The Sun says Capello put his squad up for ridicule by publishing his controversial Capello Index website.

He rated his players' performance for each of England's four games at the World Cup.

Unsurprisingly, the marks were not very flattering to his band of millionaire footballers who were sent packing after a 4-1 thrashing by Germany in the last 16.

But the scores could still prove an embarrassment to the FA, who ordered Capello to ditch plans to rate his players during the tournament.

Capello singled out Robert Green as the worst of his players on duty in South Africa. The West Ham keeper averaged 51.67 out of 100. Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe was England's top performer with 62.47.
