Di Matteo satisfied with West Brom start to campaign
West Bromwich Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo insists he is content with his side's start to their Premier League season.
The newly-promoted Baggies have collected four points from a testing opening month which has seen them take on Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham.
They enter their first derby of the season against midlands rivals Birmingham on Saturday only two points behind Alex McLeish's men.
"I think considering the teams we have played in the four games so far, we can be satisfied with the points we've got, if not happy," said Di Matteo.
"We could have had no points or one point from the fixtures we've had."
He added: "Derbies have no rules. I think they add spice to the games.
"There are no favourites as far as my experience goes. If one team is second and you're bottom, then it means nothing. They are special and anything can happen."
And Di Matteo is full of praise for his Blues counterpart McLeish, despite their different attitudes to the game.
"He is a good guy," Di Matteo told West Brom's official website.
"We went to see the Champions League final in Madrid on a corporate package so we got to know each other then.
"We talked about football - he did a great job last year in the Premier League. They seemed to struggle to get out of the Championship but then had a fantastic season.
"We don't really share the same football philosophies but we got on well."
