Defoe confident he can still pop in 20 goals for Tottenham
The 28-year old has not played since injuring his ankle whilst playing for England against Switzerland in early September but feels he has plenty to contribute to Spurs when he returns.
“I truly believe I can still finish the season with 20 goals because of the work I have put in during the time I have been off. I have given myself the best opportunity to get my goals and push the club on,” he said.
Defoe said he was also excited about the prospect of playing Champions League finals with Tottenham.
“It will certainly be nice to come back for the competition's knockout stages, where there will be other massive clubs and other big players to take on,” he added.
"I never worry about not getting back into the side. Yes, the team is doing unbelievably well but I still believe I can show that I can make a massive impact.”
