Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce hopes to close a deal for Honduras international fullback Hendry Thomas.

Bruce failed to sign the midfielder in the last window but is trying to buy him again for the New Year - with the Latin American nation's recent results a boost.

Thomas failed to get in through a lack of caps but these should increase with Honduras winning their qualifying group and lining up more big internationals.
