Japan dismiss Australian World Cup threat

Saburo Kawabuchi gave his reaction after Japan were drawn in Group A with Australia, Uzbekistan, Bahrain and Qatar.

"Frankly speaking, it is more satisfactory than joining group B. I am sure that we are capable of winning a place," Kawabuchi declared.

"We need to pay a special attention also to Uzbekistan as we do not know what ability they have."

"Despite the fact that Australia is a formidable enemy, it cannot be declared the strongest, in view of the result of the third round."

Japan have already lost to Bahrain this year.

"Although we will be grouped with Bahrain again in this qualifier, it was good in that way as we have already experienced two games against them in the third round. We should consider not to follow in the errors of the away game in March."

"It will not be easy to defeat any teams but not impossible."
