But Olympic team coach Yasuharu Sorimachi is still confident his team can perform well even without the experienced stars.
"It is a pity but this cannot be helped," Sorimachi said.
"Endo is the one who is feeling pity most."
"Our team has been built through our efforts for the last two years," he added. "I hope we can play some good football at the Olympics."
