Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has told of his rejection to an offer from Real Madrid for the Serie A's top scorer.

Preziosi told Radio Kiss Kiss: “Real Madrid put in a transfer request, there was some contact with the Spanish club through their emissaries.”

“I simply replied that he is our striker and will not be moving from Genoa.”

“In an egotistical way I am happy he didn't get called up by Diego Maradona for this week's friendly with Scotland. He is the only centre-forward we've got and it is good that he stays here, even if he thoroughly deserves to be called up.”
