England players upset with Bentley boos
"It (the booing) left a bad taste in the mouth considering it was such a good performance and everyone was happy," Rio Ferdinand told the Sunday Times. "When a player is on England duty you don't expect them to get booed. That was the disappointing thing. What happened in summer, some people might say it was the wrong decision, but he's a young player going through a learning curve and I don't think he deserved to be booed."
Michael Owen echoed Ferdinand's words.
"If he has a couple of good games for England it will be forgotten about," he said. "It's happened to many players over the years and the best way to answer it is to continue to play well."
