Companion Cards accepted for Celtic v Brisbane Roar match

Media-Newswire.com has reported that more than 250 Companion Cards holders will benefit from the card being accepted at the Translink Queensland Roars Against Racism Cup match between Celtic FC and Brisbane Roar FC.

Multicultural Affairs Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk and Sports Minister Phil Reeve said they were delighted the Companion Card program was supported by Suncorp Stadium for the match on 12 July.

Minister Palaszczuk said the Companion Card program helped people with a disability to participate equally in the community.

“The card was designed for people with a disability who need the aid of a carer to take part in activities ranging from going to a football game to seeing a show,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

"By offering a ticket at no charge to an accompanying person who is providing attendant care, it will make accessing community activities more affordable for people with high mobility, communication, self-care or learning support needs.

“It also means all Queenslanders have access to support our anti-racism campaign, Queensland Roars Against Racism, a partnership between Multicultural Affairs Queensland and Brisbane Roar FC.”

Mr Reeves said it is important that everyone has the opportunity to join in and get sport mad, especially with Scottish superstars Celtic FC coming to town.

“July is a sports smorgasbord in Queensland with something on the menu for everyone.

“It will be a month that sports fans will remember for a long time and I am pleased that the TransLink Queensland Roars Against Racism Cup match will be accessible to all Queenslanders.”

Celtic FC will play Brisbane Roar FC in the TransLink Queensland Roars Against Racism match at Suncorp Stadium on 12 July with a 3.00pm kick-off.
