Interesting question. The English prieemr league has the most exciting football and there is so much coverage on the likes of RTE, TV3 etc.The standard is pretty dismal in Ireland. There are no high-profile players playing for the likes of Shamrock Rovers etc etc therefore no interest, no excitement or TV coverage. But in saying that, we have our GAA which is our home sport as well as a strong force in Irish rugby. We just never excelled in football sadly. Celtic in Scotland has always had a strong Irish support too.All of our best footballers moved over to English clubs its where the money, fame and the chance to play against some of the best footballers in the world is.
