Ridiculous to compare. Pele scored 1000 goals with a heavy ball, lead boots and no nutritionist or special exercise program. Best could do everything and was unstoppable on his day with those heavy balls and lead boots on awful pitches in a similar wide role to Messi, Ronaldo now and Cruyff before - and was drunk half the time. You can't even compare Maradona as the game had changed so much then - and has changed immensely in the 20+ years since then. Zidane was brilliant but a completely different player (even if Zidane himself rates paul scholes as a better player than himself in a similar role). What you can say is Messi and Ronaldo are amazing players in their own right and at the moment are at the top because high scorers get the headlines. In my opinion you will never be able to say a certain player was the best ever as there are just too many changes to make it meaningful. Just how good would Best have been in today's game with no alcohol bingeing, a nutritionist, special tailored exercise program, light scientifically designed footballs and boots like slippers designed for ball control?
