Did someone say that Messi controls the game from box to box as if he is deciding what will happen like the way that Zidane did? Did someone say that he dominates the game so that the only person anyone can see on the pitch is himself like the way that Cruyff and Maradona did? Hell no, he doesn't do that, so yes his goals per game rate is most important, what else does he contribute other than attack? Nothing. It was clear in the game today that C.Ronaldo is a better and more impactful player than Messi, and C.Ronaldo is not one of the greatest of all times he is just one of the greatest of the past few years. The fact is Eto'o is better and more impactful than either of these two, but he doesn't get the hype because he is African and because he plays efficient football like a professional not fancy tricks like a peacock.
