Columbus Crew recruit Mendoza not yet cleared to play

Columbus Crew’s latest signing, Andres Mendoza, has not yet been cleared to play with his new club.

The 32-year old Peruvian striker signed with Crew when he was out of contract but for some reason his former club, Diyarbakirspor of Turkey, have not cleared him to play in the US.

Mendoza cannot play until the International Transfer Certificate comes through and he obtains a work permit and the Crew are wondering why the Turkish outfit have not given their former player permission to move on.

Reports suggest Mendoza did not leave the club on good terms as he did not see out his contract.
