Colombian defender Gonzalez joins Philadelphia Union

Philadelphia Union have acquired Colombian defender Juan Diego Gonzalez Alzate.

The 29-year old has enjoyed stints in his homeland as well as in Mexico and Argentina and will provide plenty of cover for Union coach Peter Nowak who was running short on defensive options.

Gonzalez was added to the Union roster on Thursday and will be eligible for action straight away as he will take Sebastien Le Toux’s international spot.

Le Toux received his green card this week and will no longer take up an international roster position.
