Chiellini: Juventus cannot afford another season without Champions League

Giorgio Chiellini admits Juventus cannot afford to go another season without Champions League football.

The Bianconeri failed to qualify for Europe’s premier club competition this year after ending last term in seventh in Serie A, a scenario which the defender wants to avoid.

“It will be fundamental to arrive in the Champions League for many reasons,” stated the Italian international.

“One of them includes the fact that it will help attract the kind of players who could make the difference.”

He added: “The truth is that we need to take a step up in quality against weaker sides. We have to get better in dictating games.”
