Chicago Fire president Dave Greeley will step down from his role at the end of the month.

The club has announced that Greeley will finish up as president on August 31 but will remain with the club as an advisor until the end of the current MLS season.

Greeley said that he felt he had served the club well in their short history but was looking forward to moving on to something new.

“The past two years have been intensely rewarding for me professionally and I am forever grateful to Andrew Hauptman for giving me this opportunity," Greeley said in a press release.

"To be a part of the Fire's short but sweet history and the overall ascension of soccer here in America has been exciting. I am most proud of the team of professionals we have assembled and all of their accomplishments. With this first-rate crew in place, I can now focus on some other opportunities and interests I would like to consider."
