Chelsea stars out of England’s friendly with Mexico

The four Chelsea players in England’s 30-man preliminary squad will not play in Monday’s friendly with Mexico.

Manager Fabio Capello has ruled out Frank Lampard, John Terry, Ashley Cole and Joe Cole as well as Portsmouth goalkeeper David James and says he will use the clash with El Tri as a chance to experiment with a few things.

“The Chelsea players and David James will not play against Mexico," confirmed Capello.

"I needed them to train and stay with us. I also needed to check their physical situation so these five players won't play.

“I will experiment against Mexico," he added.

"It is important to see how some of these perform on the pitch."
