Chelsea owner Abramovich loses patience with Joe Cole demands

Joe Cole faces the prospect of leaving Chelsea after losing the confidence of club owner Roman Abramovich.

The Daily Mail says sources at Stamford Bridge claim Cole and his representatives infuriated the Russian with their hardline stance in contract negotiations which saw the player threaten to leave if Abramovich did not meet the 28-year-old’s wage demands.

The tactic appears to have backfired, not least because the Chelsea owner does not consider Cole to be worth his salary demands which are in excess of £100,000 a week — especially as he has failed to regularly start in Carlo Ancelotti’s side since returning in September from a nine-month spell on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.

In my point of view,i would say joe is kind of greedy cos if u see what lamp, terry n ballack recieves a week,i think thats where the problem of joe is cumin fr.he's thinkin that if terry n lamp could harry chelsea to pay them that sum of money, then him too can do same, but joe forgot that he's no match 4 lamp n terry when it calls on the field,he looses important chance, can't even score goals,he's not in form,no match fitness,i will agree with the second commenter on this forum, dat joe needs alot of game to improve himself, look at malouda last year, won't u say they are even?malouda got his form @ the end of the season,so i expect joe to do same n stop harryin chelsea to increase his fee.i would like him to stay, thats if he reduces the fee but if he insist on going, then he can go.we only miss him.afterall, chelsea can go 4 a young player 4 his replacement.imagine players like canales.chelsea go 4 young players between the ages of 19-22 yrs.our players are ageing n injuries are too much 2 cope with.iam afraid if we could lift the epl this season cos we have strong teams to play but i believe we can,the fa cup,iam sure. Chelsea 4 ever.

Great comments, chelsea fans indeed. I agree with these comments, joe has not seen full recovery from his knee injury. I personally dont think he has shown any of his form which he had previous and hasnt really shined in recent weeks having had many chances directly infront of goal and made little of it. I believe there are much better younger talents about, who are capable of putting up better performances in a shorter time frame. He is a loved chelsea player and will always be but if he isnt performing then thats where it stands. Its crunch time and we need everyone playing their best and not nursing injury recoveries. Essien is a great example of a player who has been sidelined for a long period of time and shone almost immediately upon his return. Anyway the case is simple, if he doesnt perform, its a time to let him go. True blue for life!

The truth has to be faced here. I feel really sorry for Joe Cole. I have had the honour to meet and have a chat with him (and his lovely family) and I know how passionate he is about Chelsea and especialy the fans. He is obviously very dear and very close to Chelsea fans hearts but does not seem to have fully recovered from his knee injury but has, in all fairness, not been given too much playing time in which to prove himself.
So this begs the question... Why is Joe not playing every week in the reserves to get his sharpness back? I don't think Joe's problem is really a physical one, although he could probably do with losing a couple of pounds or so picked up over his lengthy spell off. I think his problems are purely psychological ones. He is obviously wary of getting clattered which could finish his career. As he has lost a couple of yards of pace he is going to be more susceptible to challenges so he needs to get his match fitness back.
When Fit, Joe is worth 100K a week in the present climate. Now though he is nowhere near that and needs to get himself sorted physically and mentally. He only has few weeks to prove himself before the World Cup Squad is announced, but he should be given the opportunity to do so, starting in the reserves next week and for a caouple of matches thereafter. If he doesn't sort himself out, then I am afraid we have to bite the bullit and get as much as we possibly can for him.... but not in the summer transfer window. Joe needs a little time to get fit and if h has not proved himself by Christmas, then that is the time to let him go.
Knowing Capello, Joe is nowhere near his World Cup squad at this moment so Joe needs to get cracking.
