Joe Cole and Paulo Ferreira came through a training ground match unscathed.

Midfielder Cole has been sidelined since suffering cruciate knee ligament damage in January and has not played since, but managed to score in the 60-minute workout.

Meanwhile, Portuguese full-back Ferreira has not played since damaging his anterior cruciate ligament during training back in April.

"It's nice to be playing football again," Cold told Chelsea's official website.

"But I am under no illusions and this doesn't mean I am declaring myself fit. I am going to take every day as it comes and this game was part of the rehab.

"I am just trying to keep the knee strong and keep going forward."

The 27-year-old also expressed his gratitude for Chelsea's physios: "The medical staff have been brilliant in getting me to the end of my rehab. They were all out there watching me play on Friday."
