Chelsea confident over Cole despite Tottenham interest
The Times says Chelsea believe that they can drive a hard bargain on wages because they know that he is desperate to stay.
Harry Redknapp would like to sign him for Tottenham Hotspur but would have to sell first, and even then may struggle to get his wages signed off by the board, leaving Cole with a weak negotiating position.
“We’re confident that he wants to stay,” Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti said. “He’s an important player for the squad and the fans. The fans like him and I think he will stay, but it’s not my problem. I don’t know what he earns or wants to earn."
