Chelsea captain Terry: Mourinho IS the Special One
Chelsea have moved on with Italian Carlo Ancelotti the fourth full-time manager since Mourinho's explosive era made everyone sit up and take notice of a short, Portuguese bloke not short on self-confidence.
And Terry, 29, told The Sun: "He IS the Special One.
"Jose was the first one who referred to us as 'his' players. He brought us together with that.
"After Roman Abramovich took over the club, we were unpopular to say the least. People on the outside accused us of just trying to buy success.
"Mourinho was an overnight success with the players. When he arrived we were a nearly team. We'd finished as Premier League runners- up and not really got there.
"But he made a team out of a bunch of individuals and didn't care whether people liked us. Jose gave us that mentality of 'us against the rest' and it helped bind us together.
"He would always ask after our families, our kids - but he also kept that distance.
"Carlo does the same. He's a great man manager but there's a line and you don't cross it. It's very much the boss and us but it's what we respond to and Carlo's a great boss."
