Chelsea boss Ancelotti: We don't need Pirlo

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has shrugged off a failed attempt to sign AC Milan playmaker Andrea Pirlo in the summer.

He said: "We have players to fulfil that role. We've tried John Obi Mikel, Michael Essien and Deco.

"Pirlo can't play like Mikel and Mikel can't play like Pirlo."

pirlo is younger than drogba, lampard, deco, ballack and is the same age as anelka. the "he's too old for chelsea" arguement is poor as you can see even 30+ year old players can be important at chelsea. if anything, he shouldn't sign for chelsea because he simply isn't good enough anymore.

pirlo is too old and mikel has not forfilled his promise but maybe he still can in the future as he is very young, chelsea do not need any players for at least a year, they have more than enough to carry them through at the highest level.
