Chelsea boss Ancelotti not convinced by Obi Mikel, Essien

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has concerns over two of his major midfielders and their ability to handle his diamond formation.

The Times says Chelsea’s interest in AC Milan ace Andrea Pirlo is a surprise given the number of talented central midfield players in the squad, but Ancelotti believes he will add something different. The manager is committed to playing a diamond formation this season and wants midfield players who can fulfil a variety of roles, with Pirlo’s passing ability meaning he is comfortable at the base or the tip of the midfield diamond.

Ancelotti has reservations about John Obi Mikel’s passing ability and fears that Michael Essien may lack the positional discipline needed to play in the holding role, hence his desire to add depth to the squad.

i think anceolotti should seek aeron lennon from spurs.
he has the creativity that chelsea needs on the wing side.

I agree..total BS.... No one would be employed as Chelsea Manager if he thought along the lines that Obi and Essien were unreliable....lol. And as far as Pirlo is considered.....another aging central midfielder???? I think not!
