Chelsea boss Ancelotti confident securing Cole to new deal

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is confident of securing Joe Cole to a new contract.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is confident of securing Joe Cole to a new contract.

Cole has recently returned to action after an eight-month absence due to knee ligament damage and Ancelotti is convinced that the midfielder can play his way back into the England reckoning and seal a new long-term contract with the club.

"I have not spoken to Fabio Capello about Joe Cole," admits Ancelotti. "Joe has to continue to improve and he will have an opportunity to return to play in the national team.

"Joe has quality but he is also dynamic. His return is very important for the club. We want to keep Joe and he wants to stay with us. There will not be a problem with his future.

"Because of that I can say we don't need other players. Joe is in very good condition. He is playing with consistency."
