Chelsea’s Malouda set to avenge first loss
Chelsea’s Florent Malouda says the team is ready to avenge their first loss of the season when they take on APOEL Nicosia tonight.
The Frenchman admits the players are angry after letting their unbeaten run slip by going down to Wigan 3-1 in the league on the weekend and plan to avenge that loss with a big performance against the Cypriots in their Champions League clash.
"John (Terry) spoke with the players after the Wigan game but we all had our say in the dressing room,” Malouda said.
"The players know it wasn't a good performance and not the level we expect of Chelsea.
"Yes we were angry. When you lose the way we lost to Wigan, nobody can be happy with that.
"We now have the opportunity to react.
"We're first in this group and have come here to win. We're not thinking about Wigan."
Malouda admits that the Blues did not put their usual game in place against the Latics but is confident that will change on Wednesday night.
"We didn't put all the ingredients in to win on Saturday as we did in the first six games,” he added.
"We know that, even if we are a good team, if we don't put all the ingredients in we won't win. When you come here, the team you play is very organised and wants to beat you.
"If you're not prepared for that, you can have trouble against any team."
