Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka has explained his handcuff celebration in Wednesday night’s Champions League win over MSK Zilina.

The Frenchman scored two goals in the 4-1 win at Pod Dubnom Stadium and said his handcuff gestures were for the French Football Federation who banned him for 18 internationals after a run-in with officials at the World Cup earlier this year.

"It was just something for the French federation about what happened at the World Cup,” he said.

"It was just a little joke, but I think the other French players will understand what it means. What happened in the summer is in the past now and I'm 100 per cent focused on playing for Chelsea."
