Central Coast Mariners ended their six-match group stage in the Asian Champions League campaign with a 1-0 loss to Tianjin Teda.

Played on a wet Central Coast Stadium surface, the Mariners faced an under-strength Tianjin outfit who did enough to grab all three points away from home.

The match was essentially a dead rubber with neither team being able to progress to the round of 16 but it was important for the Mariners to get a win after failing to grab maximum points in their last 10 competitive matches – they are now winless since January.

Tianjin’s Mao Biao scored the only goal of the cagey affair with a low shot in the 65th minute that beat Mariners keeper Danny Vukovic.

The loss to the Mariners made their ACL record of two draws and four losses from six outings whilst Tianjin fared much better with two wins, two draws and two losses.
